Sally Barksdale Hargrett Prize for Academic Excellence

This scholarship was created to honor Mrs. Sally Barksdale Hargrett, Class of 1921 by her husband Mr. Felix Hargrett.

Student must be a rising Senior that has completed at least 3 years of coursework at Longwood University.
Student must have the highest academic record as measured by their cumulative GPA.
This award shall be $4000 and split evenly if there are 2 or more students.

The second part of this fund is to provide a certificate and a “cash” award to the senior with the highest GPA at graduation. This is given in the form of a scholarship applied to the student’s account after Commencement. In the event of a tie, or multiple 4.0 GPA’s, the remainder of the spend rate less the $4,000 rising Senior scholarship shall be distributed evenly amongst the graduating seniors. Graduating seniors shall not receive more than $4,000 each. Recipients should have completed at least 3 years of coursework at Longwood University.
